Critical Workforce Housing Assistance Program – Prince George’s

CWHAP – the Prince George’s County Workforce Housing Assistance Program – offers up to $50,000 in forgivable down payment and closing cost assistance for eligible buyers purchasing in Prince George’s County. The amount of the assistance is $50,000 or 25% of the purchase price, whichever is less.  The money is forgiven 10% for each year of residency and is fully forgiven after ten years of residency. The remaining balance is due in full if you move out or sell within ten years.

Applicants must be a first time homebuyer and employed as either:
A. A teacher employed full-time by Prince George’s County Public Schools.
B. A nurse employed full-time in a medical office or hospital located in Prince George’s County.
C. A firefighter, emergency medical technician, correctional officer, police officer, public safety
dispatcher, or deputy sheriff employed full-time by a public safety agency of Prince George’s
County Government.

The maximum housing payment allowed is 35% of your qualifying income, and the maximum total debts allowed is 47% of your income.

This program is available for buyers with higher incomes than Pathway to Purchase.
